Why Choose Forthglade?

Spoiler: We're award winning for a reason!

The reason I love Forthglade is because I've visited the factory in Devon and seen firsthand the care and attention that goes into sourcing the ingredients and the recipes themselves. The recipes have been developed by pet or veterinary nutritionists, meet FEDIAF guidelines and that's why Forthglade is vet approved."

FAQs

We’ve not formally tested freezing our wet dog food, so we can’t guarantee the impact on quality or texture. If you do choose to freeze it, transfer the contents into a freezer-safe container and use within three months.

All our food and treats have a shelf life of 18 months from the date they were made - you can find the use by date printed on the short side of each individual tray for our wet food, or on the back of the pack for our dry food & treats. Once you have opened them they are best enjoyed within the following timeline:

  • Wet food: consume within 2 days
  • Natural Dry (Cold Pressed): consume within 1 month
  • Natural Dry (Lightly Baked): consume within 2 months
  • Dental Sticks: consume within 10-15 days
  • Treats: consume within 4 weeks
  • Treats (Meaty only): consume within 14 days
  • Salmon Oil: consume within 6 months

All of our wet recipes are hypoallergenic. This means we carefully select our ingredients to ensure that our recipes are of the best quality for your four legged friend. We use simple, quality ingredients with no junk or nasties. This means delicious and nutritious recipes that are kind and gentle to your dogs tummy.

You can safely store your opened trays of Forthglade wet meals in the fridge for up to two days after opening, without any compromise to quality or flavour.

Our pet foods are tested by independent laboratories to ensure they are safe and meet nutritional standards. We are regularly audited under the BRCGS for Food Safety, and by APHA (previously known as DEFRA), as part of our commitment to high manufacturing and safety standards.

Our wet food trays are gently cooked and sealed, making them shelf-stable, so they don't need to be kept chilled before opening. It's perfectly normal for them to feel warm after spending time in a delivery vehicle or carrier depot, especially during warmer weather.

As long as the trays are still fully sealed, show no signs of damage, swelling or leaking, and are within their best before date, they're perfectly safe to feed.

You may notice the food feels a little softer than usual after being warm in transit. That's completely normal and doesn't affect the quality or safety of the food. If you'd prefer, you can pop the trays into the fridge for a short while before feeding to help the food firm up again. It's not necessary, but some owners find it makes portioning a little easier, and some dogs simply prefer it served that way.

If you do notice any damaged seals, leaking trays or anything that doesn't look right, please let us know and we'll be happy to help.
